Following the spread of Buddhism in Tibet by Guru Rinpoche, four schools emerged: Nyingma, Sakya, Kagyü, Gelug.

H. H. Gongma Trichen Rinpoche likes to underline that different lineages of the four schools are all intertwined. Every teaching we receive from our Master carries within itself the blessings of the holy beings of all schools.

We will briefly study these lineages and some of their great practitioners, such as Machig Labdrön known as the Dakini of the Chöd practice, who lived in Tibet in the second half of the 11th century.

Ven. Laura Coccitto

Ven. Laura Coccitto was born in Italy. She is a retired primary school teacher. She lived in Africa in 1992, 1994 and 1995, where she worked on different humanitarian projects in the area of health care (recovery of malnourished children) and education, as well as mother and childcare programmes.

She was ordained in 2001.

In 2004 she completed a 7-year study programme of Buddhist philosophy at Istituto Tzong Khapa, Pomaia, Italy. This master programme covers the five fundamental Buddhist treatises, and is similar to the studies one can undertake at Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. She served as a tutor for a master programme until 2010.

She first met His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin in 2003. In 2010 she received the complete Lam Dre cycle of teachings from His Holiness in Kuttolsheim, France, where she also met Khenchen Sherab Gyaltsen Amipa for the first time.

Ven. Laura manages study groups at various Buddhist centres.
