Saturday, 23 January is a very special Guru Rinpoche day called 'Chupen'. For this occasion we will practice the Tsog offering to Guru Rinpoche together. Khenpo Tashi will explain the ritual called the 10th day Practice on the basis of the text called “A Bouquet of Udumbara Flowers: an Explanation of the 10th Day”, which includes stories from the life of Guru Rinpoche, explanation of the importance of the 10th day feast offering, explanation of the Tsog practice and its benefits.

Guru Rinpoche was the Indian master who played a fundamental role in the spread of Buddhism in Tibet, mainly because he possessed great power to remove all obstacles.

During the Tsog, those who do not have the Guru Rinpoche's Tsog text, or lack the Guru Rinpoche’s empowerment, can concentrate on the Guru Rinpoche's qualities.

Khenpo Tashi Sangpo Ampia was born in 1973 in Sakya, Tibet, where he also received his first training and education.

At the age of 10, he entered the main Sakya Monastery, Thubten Lhakhang Chenmo, and took up the novice-monk ordination. He studied at the monastery until 1994, when he escaped from Tibet to India. He found refuge in Dehra Dun, home to the Sakya Monastery in exile and His Holiness Sakya Trizin. He enrolled to the Sakya College, a Monastic University where he studied and deepened his understanding of various aspects of the Buddhist practice and philosophy. He completed his studies in the year 2000, and was awarded ‘Kachu-pa’ and ‘Loppön’ degrees.

In May 2000, he moved to Switzerland to take care of the Thupten Changchup Ling centre in Arosio as its resident monk. He has been in charge of the temple, and has lead daily rituals and meditation sessions.
In 2008, he returned to India to take the Bikshu vows, i.e. the vows of a fully ordained monk.

Before his passing, Khenchen Sherab Gyaltsen Amipa chose Khenpo Tashi Sangpo as his heir and left him in charge of his European centres.
On 3 July 2016, His Holiness the Sakya Trizin conferred upon Lama Tashi Sangpo at the European centre Sakya Tsechen Ling in Kuttolsheim/Strassburg the titile of Khenpo (abbot) as a sign of appreciation for his committed guidance and support in taking care of the Sakya Centres founded by Khenchen Sherab Gyaltsen Amipa.
